Marrakech, Morocco is one of the most sought-after destinations offering an extensive variety of some of the best and most luxurious hotels in the world. Each hotel boasts exclusive experiences, ambiances and styles, while striving to deliver an authentically Moroccan experience. One property that particularly sticks out as the most exquisite and original Marrakesh retreat: the iconic La Mamounia Marrakesh. We have teamed up with the incredible La Mamounia’s concierge to explore the best of what this vibrant city has to offer.
The legendary La Mamounia hotel in Marrakech, Morocco was established in 1923. This property, a Leading Hotels of the World Member, has been visited by some of history’s most acclaimed figures such as Winston Churchill, Franklin Roosevelt, and Mick Jagger to name a few. More recently, the hotel has accommodated celebrities including Jennifer Aniston, Salma Hayek and Gwnenyth Paltrow, as well as hosted socialite Poppy Delevingne’s wedding back in 2014 and Hannah Bronfman’s in 2017.
How would you describe the La Mamounia to someone thinking about traveling there?
“La Mamounia was recently renovated by the notable architect and designer, Jacques Garcia (designer of Hotel Costes in Paris). The hotel accommodates 209 rooms and suites, including three three-bedroom riads (or traditional Moroccan homes that come with private pools), all of which are beautifully decorated and encompass magnificent Moroccan accents of dark wood, colorful tiles, and silver.”
What’s the first piece of advice you’d give to anyone visiting Marrakech?
“For those who are visiting Marrakech for the first time, we advise you to make the first visit to the old city (medina) with an official tour guide, in order for them to take you to the important landmarks. Also, do not hesitate to go out in the surroundings of Marrakech and to take excursions in the high Atlas Mountains or the desert of Agafay.”
Describe the perfect day in Marrakech?
“Start your day off with a fabulous breakfast by the pool at the La Mamounia. Then visit the Madrassa Ben Youssef, Museum of Marrakech and secret garden with a knowledgeable English speaking guide. Lunch at “Nomad”. After your delicious lunch, relax at the outdoor or indoor swimming pools of La Mamounia or indulge in an assortment of sumptuous spa treatment in our state-of-the-art SPA (which is one of the most coveted SPA in Africa). After your spa treatments, it’s time for some adventure. Experience a camel ride at the Agafay desert during sunset time, which leads you to an exotic dinner setting under a Berber tent (equipped with a fireplace and traditional musicians).
